Programme for Lower House Liverpool Schools’ Parliament 2016-17
Make Your Mark [MYM] Campaign – from start of term until Friday 14th October Schools’ Parliament in Liverpool will be leading on UK Youth Parliament’s Make Your Mark Campaign 2016-17. This is the largest consultation with young people [Years 6 to 13] carried out in the UK – last year over 5,000 young people in Liverpool voted to choose the 2 national campaigns for UKYP – raising awareness of Mental Health issues and tackling Hate Crime. 10 issues for Ballot Paper were decided at Annual Sitting of UKYP held at York University at the end of July. Schools’ Parliament is looking for Make Your Mark Champions to help lead on voting within their schools. More details to follow.
Thursday 29th September – full day INSET at Liverpool Town Hall from 9.45 am until 3.00 pm with lunch provided - in morning this will include meet the Decision Makers which will include representatives from Public Health, CAMHS, the Police, Merseytravel along with Councillor Nick Small, Cabinet Member for Education and Councillor Lynnie Hinnigan, Mayoral Lead for Youth and Citizen Engagement.
Monday 17th October – election of Junior Lord Mayors at Liverpool Town Hall from 9.45 am until 12.00 pm – note that each school is only allowed to put forward 1 candidate to be Junior Lord Mayor
For those elected as Young Lord Mayors only there will be an Inauguration Ceremony at Liverpool Town Hall on Wednesday 2nd November from 1.00 pm until 3.00 pm.
Wednesday 7th December - Model UK Parliament will be taking place at Hope University’s Childwall Campus – from 9.45 am until 2.30 pm - maximum of 50 children.
