Bike it Breakfast

On Friday 12th May we hosted our first 'Bike it Breakfast' for Year 2 children which was a wonderful success. Two thirds of Year 2 children either cycled or scootered to school for 8.20 a.m. and it was lovely to see happy, smiling faces awaiting their French style breakfast. Along with Fairtrade juice, the children enjoyed croissants, plain and chocolate brioche rolls, frubes and a selection of fruit. It was a well deserved treat for the children who had worked so hard on their 'special work' during the half term. After breakfast they all played on the playground with a variety of sports equipment.

There was plenty of food to share at playtime and this is definitely an event we will repeat during 'Walk to School Week' in the future.

Year 2 Learning Visit to Liverpool Waterfront

Our visit to Liverpool Waterfront took place on a blistering hot day in May. The main focus of our visit was Liverpool Museum, where we followed a Beatles trail, enjoyed karaoke and a video about The Beatles and located some of the key landmarks and buildings on Ben Johnson's Cityscape.

From the big window we enjoyed finding out about The Three Graces and about the importance of the waterfront as a tourist area.

After lunch we carried out fieldwork in the area, looking at how well the area has been developed for tourists and visitors and we drew a route from The Liver Building to the museum. We identified the key landmarks in the area and learned about our city as a World Heritage site.

Halton Castle and Norton Priory - Monday 27th March

We visited Halton Castle and Norton Priory to learn more about medieval life. The children had a wonderful time looking at the ruins of Halton Castle and picked up some sword skills along the way.

Spaceport - Thursday 2nd February

Y1 visited Spaceport in Seacombe to find out about our topic called Destination Outer Space. We had a great time exploring the hands-on exhibits and particularly enjoyed the planetarium shows. We have been given rockets which we can make at home and we hope to bring them back into school for a BLAST OFF!

Toys - Monday 7th November

Y1 visited the Museum of Liverpool to find out about toys, old and new. We learned about the materials from which they are made and had a chance to play with toys from our parents' and grandparents' childhood. We were invited in to Little Liverpool to learn a bit more about our city and enjoyed a visit to the Tent of Stories too!
