Lunar New Year: Year of the Snake
We have immersed ourselves in exciting learning experiences to prepare for Lunar New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Snake! From dressing up, trying Chinese calligraphy and the Chopsticks challenge to making lanterns, dragons and lucky red envelopes, we have had opportunities to explore real Asian artefacts and listened to traditional Lunar New Year stories and legends.
Our Celebration Day was so much fun! We dressed in the traditional colours of red and yellow to bring good luck and good fortune to our school! We loved dancing with colourful scarves as Mrs Neil led our dragon, lion and firecracker dances. Then we went on a dragon parade around the whole school, sharing good luck messages with every class and collecting gold coins along the way!
We had built up an appetite for our Chinese banquet at lunchtime then found the courage to search in the dragon’s mouth for treats to take home in our lucky red envelopes…
