Cultural Capital, Diversity, Independence and High Expectations:

Ancient Maya Day

In Year 6, we have been learning all about the Ancient Maya Civilization. We brought our learning to life on Friday 10th February 2023 when we took part in Ancient Maya Day!

We dressed up in colourful clothes representative of Maya attire and imagined what it would have been like to have lived during this time. We took part in a vast range of activities that included sampling food that the ancient Maya would have grown and eaten, learning about and painting Maya gods using water colours, making a Maya necklace using clay and creating our own Mayan mask using traditional symbols. We even had our faces painted with Maya tribal markings. We had an amazing day and learnt lots of interesting things!
