Year 3

Metamorphic rocks

We used heat and pressure to change our sedimentary rocks into metamorphic rock. We warmed our hands to warm the play dough then pressed down hard to create pressure and flatten our play dough. This is what happens over time to create metamorphic rocks.

Spring Bulb Project

We have been planting daffodil and crocus bulbs as part of the Spring Bulbs for Schools - 20 years of climate investigation projects. We are just one of 174 schools across the UK involved in the project and look forward to seeing our results in the spring time.

Flower dissection

We learnt to identify the male and female parts of the flower and recognise how they help the flower to make seeds.

Identifying plant parts

Year three have started their new science topic by identifying plant parts and the roles they play. They discovered seeds produced by flowers and were amazed by the extensive roots discovered below the soil.
