Balanceability at Emmaus
This year we have been so fortunate to have had some balanceability sessions provided by LSSP take place with children in Reception. These sessions aim to provide children with opportunities to build confidence, spatial awareness and dynamic balance skills which enable children to cycle without ever needing stabilisers. Children take part in gross-motor skills and balancing activities before taking to a balance bike to complete the session.
A balance bike is a lightweight child's bike, without pedals, which facilitates balance and propulsion. Children run along whilst seated, pushing off the ground to make a forward movement and use their feet and hand operated brakes to slow and stop safely.
Some of our wonderful reception children have taken part in these sessions with Coach Dean and some of these children are now using pedal bikes - How amazing!
