Maths in the Mud Kitchen, Beach and Builders' Yard
Number Work, Counting, Exploring Length and Capacity Outdoors
We explored capacity ( full, empty and half full) using bottles and containers in the water and mud kitchen. We counted our mud pies and selected the correct numeral to place next to them.
On the beach we used our number flags to label how many stones we had counted in our sets.
We made long and even longer walls with the cement we transported (sand and water) . It took great team work, negotiation and turn taking when we were in the mud kitchen, builders' yard and beach.
