St Patrick's Day
We watched a video about St Patrick and St Patrick's Day celebrations on Cbeebies. We learnt about St Patrick being taken away from his family, when he was only a boy, far away on a boat to Ireland. He had to care for sheep for many years on his own. We heard about how Patrick prayed to God and trusted Him and how God led Patrick to a boat to take him back home. We thought about how we can talk to God if we feel sad or lonely, as He cares for us. God sent Patrick back to Ireland to tell the people there about Jesus. This is celebrated on St Patrick's Day. We heard that green is the national colour for Ireland.
We had a 'green' hunt in Nursery (and practiced saying green in French too!) We took our green items outdoors with a rainbow and crock of gold to have class photos next to the flag of Ireland flying outside of Emmaus!
