Sometimes pride can be a good thing. For example, it is right to feel proud when we have worked hard to achieve our very best work. However when pride makes us feel above others and stops us valuing them or their advice, it is not good. Icarus was so proud that he could fly, he ignored his father’s advice and flew closer and closer to the sun, which melted the wax, destroyed his wings and caused him to fall from the sky. Taking and acting on good advice means that we may need to be humble enough to admit that we don’t always know best.
Prayer:
Dear God,
Help us to be proud when we achieve our best
but humble enough to listen to others
and take good advice
