Mrs E. Cannon de Sousa & Mrs M. Murphy
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to you and your child and hope that they will have a very happy and successful year.
To coincide with our RE topic Mission - Community, one of the tasks was to interview somebody in the local community who gives up their time to help and serve others. We had the pleasure of a visit from Nana Hughes (Faye's nana in 5C) who came to talk to the children about the tremendous amount of charity work she is involved in such as, NSPCC, Zoe's Place, Foodbank, Whitechapel to name but a few. The children prepared a number of questions to ask her to find out why she dedicates her time helping others in need and about her Christian values which allows her to love, care and put others first before herself. It was an absolute pleasure to meet such a remarkable and inspirational lady with such humble and gracious qualities. Thank you very much from all of Year 5.
Please ensure your child has their outdoor Emmaus PE kit and appropriate footwear in school as most lessons will take place outdoor due to Infant Christmas play rehearsals.
Year 5 Assembly
Tuesday 16th October
A celebration of the first half term's work.
All parents and grandparents are very welcome to come and watch the performance.
We learnt that our chocolate bar starts its journey as a cocoa bean growing on a cocoa tree in hot and humid countries which lie near to the Equator.
The cocoa beans farmers work extremely hard to harvest the beans, pack them and weigh them ready to be shipped to chocolate factories in other continents.
They haven’t always got a fair price for their cocoa beans, that’s were the Fairtrade organisation comes in.
A special visitor from ‘The Ministry of Chocolate’ taught us that with the help of Fairtrade, the cocoa farmers are never cheated and receive a fair price for the produce that they sell.
When you eat chocolate, you are sharing a yummy gift from cocoa farmers around the world. Chocolate brings the world together!
