Freezing and Melting

We have been thinking about how water changes in the cold. We watched Fourways Farm "A drop of the Hard Stuff," about Horse getting stuck in the frozen pond. We read the story "Harry and the Snow King" and talked about why Harry couldn't take his little snowman into the house.

We have had great fun filling balloons with water. We put some in the freezer and some outdoors to see what will happen.

We explored the frozen snow in the outdoor area. We found it was very cold and melts in our hands. Some children even found snowflakes frozen together!

We will be exploring Instasnow in the water tray.
