There's no such thing as a GRUFFALO!
Our adopted author in Reception is Julia Donaldson. We love sharing and reading her amazing story books and focussed on one of our favourite texts, The Gruffalo, for a whole week! We received a letter from the Gruffalo himself asking us to go on a Gruffalo number hunt; we went outside to search for the numbers 0-20 then we sequenced them in the right order. We dressed up and used props and puppets to tell the story, we made playdough Gruffalos and had a Gruffalo tea party! We developed literacy skills by writing captions for the characters and devised our own Gruffalo counting game using dice and conkers to practise counting on to add.
