The Travelling Crib
As Advent began this week, we have welcomed The Travelling Crib to Emmaus. Our friends in St John Bosco have invited each class to use this special resource, which reflects the Mexican tradition of ‘Las Posadas’. The children will look after Mary and Joseph and offer them a safe place to stay every day as we remember their long journey to Bethlehem. We will also read the story ‘Refuge’, a contemporary retelling of the Nativity story, which addresses the refugee crisis and offers a feeling of hope, celebrating the kindness of strangers.
First stop on the journey was in Reception, where the children decided to build Mary and Joseph a safe, warm shelter, filled with their love. We quietly reflected on the story before the crib moved on again…
