Baptism: Nursery Doll's Christening
RE Theme: Baptism
Mr Housbey came to visit Nursery and talk about baptism. He showed us the Christening dress his daughters had all worn when they were babies. We dressed up as the priest, parents and God parents and used a doll for the baby. Mr Housbey explained that baptism is a welcoming into the church, God’s family. He made the sign of the cross on the baby’s head using special oil and poured water over too, using a shell. The cross reminds us of Jesus and the shell reminds us of our journey of faith. The children looked for shells and crosses on their uniform. Mr Housbey showed us a baptismal candle, which reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world.
