Year 2

Our Trip to The Beatles Story

Year 2 had a fantastic time visiting The Beatles Story and the childhood home of Ringo Starr. The children visited the Dingle and saw the house where Ringo was born and the school he attended! We even saw the Empress pub which was on the cover of his first album.

The children loved the trip and were a credit to our school with their wonderful manners and behaviour.

They melted the hearts of the staff with their singing of 'Imagine' in the John Lennon room.

Very Well Done Year 2

Our Amazing Visit to Cheshire Reindeer Lodge!

One of the highlights of the Year 2 year was enjoyed by the children with our annual visit to Cheshire Reindeer Lodge.

The children were greeted by the elves and taken to a large marquis where Elf Trixie and Elf Bernard enchanted them with a panto style Christmas show. There was a further surprise when Santa made an appearance and met with each of the children to give them a present.

There was a wonderful opportunity to learn about reindeer when Elf Bumble gave an interesting talk. After feeding the reindeer the children had photo shoots in Santa's sleigh and beside a magic car.

It was a day to remember and the weather was thankfully kind to us. Ms Duffy would like to make it clear that she is not dating Elf Bernard!!

'It was fantastic! Feeding the reindeer was really interesting' Aaron Evans

'it tickles and they slobber on you, but it was great!' Millie Kennedy

'The elves let us go on Santa's sleigh. I was so excited!' Faye Hughes

'It was so funny when Bernard lifted Ms Duffy into the air! Everyone was laughing.' Arren Dodd

'The photo with the magical car and our teachers was special.' Jasmine Capkan

We are Geographers Assembly November 2015

Many thanks to all of our families who attended our recent assembly. It was a celebration of all of our geography work this term, exploring play spaces in the locality. We also visited Hale Village to compare it as a play space to Croxteth Park. We are hoping to host the children from Hale CE School in the summer term when we will have an opportunity to compare the parks in both localities.

Mike Coffey Visits Year 2

Retired professional footballer Mr Mike Coffey came to Emmaus to talk to the children in year 2 about the importance of exercise. He told the children about his experiences of sport and football and the importance of warming up.

The children were extremely excited and asked Mr Coffey some well prepared questions. He then went on to show the children some ball skills he displayed when he played for Everton Football Club! He also told the children about a very famous football manager for Liverpool Football Club 'Bill Shankly' who spotted his talent when out scouting.

The children in year 2 loved the visit from Mr Coffey and went home to tell their parents all about it.

Thanks again to Mr Coffey for offering his time to come to our school.

We are the Year 2 team

Psalm 139 Song (You Carry Me)

Our topic in R.E this term is 'New Beginnings'. The children have loved learning this song about Creation. Mr Williams was impressed when he listened to the children singing during their R.E lesson this week!

We had a brilliant time during our recent Geography field trip exploring places we play. The children were bursting with ideas and questions about their local community play areas. Thank you to the staff at the Rhys Jones Centre who made us feel very welcome at such short notice. The centre is a wonderful place and lots of our children love taking part in lots of the activities that happen there. Well done 2M for your wonderful behaviour too! You truly are a credit to our school

And there is more .........

2D visit Frankie and Benny's as part of the topic 'Super Fit Me'

The children and staff had a brilliant time making healthy pizza and sampling the freshly made fruit cocktails! The children asked lots of awesome questions and learnt a lot about healthy food choices and the importance of hygiene.

The morning was so much fun and the children loved their pizza. Have a look at our happy chef's in the pictures below.
