LO: To up-level sentences from Tom’s Midnight Garden.
Task:
Look at the series of sentences (pdf document below) taken from Chapters 7 and 8.
Up-level the sentences to make them more complex and interesting to the reader.
Remember to look closely at the context of the sentence – they should link to the storyline of the book.
You could add, for example:
- Subordinate clauses
- Relative clauses
- Interesting openers
- Conjunctions
- Adventurous vocabulary
- Adjectives
- Adverbs
- Range of punctuation – brackets. Dashes, colons, semi-colons, etc.
