We have been reviewing sounds called: Set 1 Special Friends.  They have 2 letters but make 1 sound: sh th ch qu ng nk ck.

Miss Kelly and Mrs Millington’s group are currently working with Mrs Ball’s group.  We are focusing on word reading, speedy reading and red words. 

We are still focusing on our reading skills in the RWI lesson so the Red Ditty Writing book is blank.  We have enclosed it in case you would like to practice the handwriting pages or fill in the word and sentence writing sections.

Mrs Ball’s Green Storybook Group:

Mrs Ball’s group is currently working with Miss Kelly and Mrs Millington’s group.  We are focusing on word reading, speedy reading and red words. 

Please find speedy word lists on the website.  If you would like any printing please let us know and we will send them home to you.

Your child will bring home a green story book.  Please repeatedly read the speed words at the back of the book and the red word page at the front of the book.  Our aim is to improve fluency and comprehension skills.  The more words the children recognise the more fluent their reading will be.  The more fluent they are the better their comprehension skills will be as they are not putting all their energy into reading each word.
