Meet the Emmaus Sports Council

Here at Emmaus we want our children to get the best of experiences out of our PE and Sports Curriculum.  We have recently appointed a sports council to help make decisions alongside staff to encourage positive attitudes and motivation towards school sports and physical activity. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Our Emmaus Sports Council have many responsibilities within their role and always work with enthusiasm.

Pupils on our Sports Council are involved with:

• Organising their end of unit intra competitions in each year group
• Sharing and presenting achievements across the school in both infant and junior merit assemblies
• Ensuring the PE and School Sports notice boards are kept up to date
• Representing pupil voice from their year group and sharing ideas with the rest of the school
• Working alongside Physical Activity Leaders to develop our active play time provision
• Organising and running sports days and school games days
• Attending city-wide events to highlight the importance of physical activity and education
• Creating the half-termly PE newsletter to parents and pupils

We had a wonderful time at the World Gymnastics Championships! We visited the arena and watched male gymnasts from all over the world compete for the champion title! We were lucky enough to see Team GB compete and watched Courtney Tulloch (GB) get the top spot on the rings. We cheered and chanted for all of the teams and celebrated with a trip to the fan park too!

We visited the fan park later in the afternoon. We took part in some fun games to win special prizes, had a go of standing on the podium, designed our own medals and some of us even took part in a juggling challenge which was broadcast live on the big screen!
