This year Safer Internet Day took place worldwide on Tuesday 7th February.
The theme this year is, “Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations online.”
In class we have been learning how to be safer on the internet. Our Digital Leaders delivered presentations on ways to be safe and who to talk to if we had any worries.
3W’s digital leader, asked the children lots of questions about what they like to do on the Internet.

SAFER INTERNET DAY 2020!
Safer Internet Day was celebrated on Tuesday, 11 February 2020, when, once again, our school joined forces across the globe to work "Together for a better internet".
Digital technologies provide you with a world of possibilities at your fingertips. Never before have we enjoyed so many opportunities to learn, exchange, participate and create. Yet, the internet also opens up certain risks to its users – especially the most vulnerable ones, such as children: privacy concerns, cyberbullying, disinformation, exposure to potentially harmful content and predatory behaviours, to quote but a few.
How can we ensure access to a safe and stimulating online environment for the greatest number, where they can make the most of a wealth of opportunities, while at the same time mitigating its negative side-effects? Together, we have the power to inspire positive changes online and to raise awareness of the issues that matter to us.

Safer Internet Day 2017-18
Safer Internet Day took place on Tuesday 6 February and the whole school joined in with this important campaign. From Nursery to Year 6, everyone at Emmaus learnt how to keep themselves and others safe online by participating in educational visits, assemblies, challenges, competitions, class discussions and story sessions.
This year, the theme was ‘Create, Connect and Share Respect: A Better Internet Starts With You’. Years 5 and 6 visited LFC and EFC to participate in a range of #SID2018 activities at Anfield and Goodison Park. Back at school, assemblies for EYs, KS1 and KS2 introduced the day's activities with thought-provoking videos aimed at each age group. The children were then challenged to create a 'positive pledge' for keeping themselves and others safe online. All of the #ItStartsWIthUs pledges will then connect together, ready to share throughout the school over the coming weeks.
Safer Internet Day 2019
Safer Internet Day took place on Tuesday 5 February and the whole school joined in with this important campaign. This year, the theme was ‘Together for a Better Internet’, with activities planned to develop the children’s understanding of the idea of ‘consent’ and asking/giving permission when they are online.
The day was filled with a range of activities; Altru Education performed the drama ‘Back to the App’ for KS2 and led workshops for every class in the infants; our eCadets led assemblies and discussions and Y5 & 6 visited EFC to participate in a city-wide schools’ SID celebration.
