Year 5 Residential to France
Each year our Year 5 children take part in a 4 night residential to northern France. The children stay at the magnificent Chateau du Broutel and take part in a range of cultural and adventurous activities. During their stay they have the opportunity to kayak, abseil, canoe aswell as take part in lots of evening activities such as the Chateau Olympics. The children also visit a local French farm to watch how Goat's cheese is made, visit a chocolate factory and take part in a a study of the town of Rue.
The children also spend a very moving day at the Somme Battlefields. The children visit the town of Albert and where they visit the famous Battle of the Somme Museum. They then visit Thiepville where they have the opportunity to place a cross on the grave of a British soldier who lost his life in the Great War. The children complete the day with a guided visit to the trenches at Beaumont Hammel.
