Photographs Year 3

We enjoyed using the VR headsets to see what life in Ancient Greece would have looked like. We used the world maps to locate modern day Greece.

Y3 enjoyed an immersive Stone Age History Experience Day on Tuesday. Jo from LittleFoot visited us and taught the children about the tools and weapons that would have been used in this period before we went outside to our new Forest School area. This was where the children learnt to SAFELY light a fire using fire steels and a small piece of cotton wool as kindling. We were taught about the hunter / gatherer nature of the Stone Age people and we discovered lots of useful plants growing in our school grounds including yarrow and dandelions. It was really exciting to try eating some insects just as they would have done 15,000 years ago – we sampled buffalo worms, mealworms and crickets! Afterwards, Jo showed us how we could use charcoal as a toothpaste and toothbrush! We also learnt about tying different knots as the Stone Age people would have used these to tie flints to sticks for their weapons, to build snares to trap wild animals and also to create their shelters. What a wonderful experience we had!
