Mr. Housbey's Early Years Visit
Mr. Housbey is a decon at Our Lady's Queen of Martyrs' Church. He came to Nursery and Reception as part of our RE topic Gathering.
Mr. Housbey talked about what we do at church, some children told him which churches they go to with their families; some go to St Cuthbert's or St Mary's, others go to St Theresa's. Simba said that he attends the Salvation Army.
Mr. Housbey dressed children up in altar helpers' robes. We looked closely at the special candles, washing bowls, and the altar tray with pictures of grapes and corn on used for Holy Communion. Mr. Housbey showed us the Bible, God's special book and he also showed us the story of Noah's Ark from a children's Bible. The children told Mr. Housbey about the Noah's Ark role play and display in Nursery and also the story of Daniel and The Lions which we have been enjoying.
We sang the song 'Community' together and Mr. Housbey said a prayer with us.
