The Giant Spectacular
Some Giant Photos Emailed in by Families.
"The Giant Spectacular...Liverpool's Dream."
It was delightful to hear about the number of Nursery children who went to see the Giants in and around our city. As a follow up we have been developing listening and communication skills by sharing Giant Spectacular news with our friends. The children have drawn pictures of their favourite Giants, talked about what they saw and who took them to see the Giants. The children were so excited to look at photos on the Clever Board which had been emailed to Nursery by families. This prompted much conversation! Some children brought photos and drawings in their special books to show the class and others brought Giant Souvenir booklets to share with their friends.
We looked at maps and newspaper articles and created our own Giants out of wooden and foam blocks indoors and outdoors too.
We have been listening to stories about giants. The favourite so far is "The Smartest Giant in Town," by Julia Donaldson. We have also been exploring concepts of big and little, large and small.
The Giant Spectacular theme has generated a high motivation to write and mark make. We used a variety of mark making tools and giant rolls of paper to express our ideas and recall events.
