Rose came to talk to us about road safety. We listened to a story about Salim who let go of his Mum's hand to run into the road after his new football. Salim's Mum shouted and he stopped just in time. A car ran over his football!
We talked about what we need to do to keep safe on the roads.
We remembered that we need to always hold a grown up's hand and not run away when we are walking down the street. We learnt about how to stop at the kerb and get off our bike or scooter. We learnt that we have to hold hands and look both ways when we are crossing the road. We need to use our ears to listen out for traffic or emergency vehicle sirens. We always need to think, 'Is it safe to cross?'
We dressed in hi vis vests and flourescent snap bands, which help us to be seen in the dark. We pressed the button on the crossing and waited for the green man and the beep. We remebered we have to hold hands, use our eyes, our ears and we need to think when we are crossing roads.
We enjoyed using the crossing patrol lollipop outdoors to stop vehicles while the road cones were being put out. We turned it round and called 'Go!' to our friends.
