Tous Ensemble, En Chemin Avec Jesus

Nursery

We had a fantastic 'Teddy Bears' Party' with Super Steve's disco and our Mums, Dads and Grandparents, not forgetting our teddies!

We said goodbye to Mrs. Valance who was retiring, but we are sure that she will come back to visit us in September!

Nursery Memories Of Jay, A Remarkable Little Boy.

We remember Jay starting Nursery as a child who was unable to stand for more than a minute or so,

holding furniture. From a boy who navigated his way around Nursery, indoors and outdoors, scooting on his bottom to a child who could stand independently to paint at the easel, play with the dough and look

at the pictures of Buzz LightYear, Woody and his family on “Jays’ favourite things” pinned to the

Nursery wall.

Once Jay started using the walking frame, there was no stopping him!  He was delighted with his newly discovered independence. Jay was such a happy little boy; he enjoyed sitting with his friends at the

snack table, laughing and shouting, “Cracker Thacker! Cracker Thacker!” to Mrs Thacker in the kitchen. Recently, his speech had taken off; Jay tried out new words every day. He had a mischievous sense of humour. He repeated Mrs Armstrong’s words, “Mrs Lockhart’s cheeky!” and from then on “Cheeky Lockhart” stuck!

We remember Jay laughing with Molly in the water play while she hid the Nemo and Dory toys under

shells, “Keep swimming!” Jay would often say. We remember him playing with Buzz and Woody

alongside Ross and Jay sitting on the bike with his friend Luke, being taken around the outdoors.

We recall Jay’s determination to climb the ladder in the playhouse, with Mrs Caulfield’s support, and

his delight to be with his friends high up and being photographed.  Mrs Valance walked Jay outdoors

helping him to kick a ball to friends. Mrs Armstrong set up a gift box for “Pixie Jay” so he could stand up like his friends in the Christmas Nativity on the stage.  Jay was fascinated by the newly hatched

chick he gently held in his hands, laughing with Mrs Wright.

We laugh when we recall Jay shouting “Yee cow! “  to Mrs Lockhart, a shortened version of “Yee ha cowboy!”  Jay was delighted when Mrs Lockhart tied Buzz and Woody to his walking frame so he could

have them to hand outdoors!

We will never forget Jay’s daily laughter and joy when he saw his family coming to pick him up from

Nursery.

Jay was a truly special little boy with a contagious smile and a fighting spirit. What a privilege it has

been to know such a brave little man.

We have had a busy week in Nursery; digging up our potatoes for snack, building constructions, exploring Maths activities, playing football, playing school and making mud potions!

We found slugs, snails, ants and woodlice when we harvested out potatoes. We even found a heart shaped potato, see if you can spot it on the photographs.

The highlight of the week was releasing the butterflies we have been caring for since they were tiny caterpillars. Some children were lucky enough to have the butterflies land on them!

Harvesting Potatoes and Releasing Butterflies

Football, Construction, Exploring Number, Safari Park and Playing School.

We loved the Year 1 assembly with the  Rio carnival dancers. We made our own carnival head dresses out of feathers, card, coloured pens, collage, glue, staples and sellotape.

Don't we look great!

Stay & Play for Fathers' Day!

We had fun together playing number skittles, Hook a Duck, sorting and cutting out giant coins (Jim and the Beanstalk story) , building with large foam 3D shapes, painting boxes and drawing around blocks on the floor. We enjoyed drawing and writing in our floor book while we glued in photos from the shape hunt. We parked cars in  numbered parking lots and played French bingo too.

Maths Activity Day

Splashing in puddles and mud play is a great opportunity to develop social and language skills while having fun exploring the world!

Sensory Play with the Water Beads

Exploring Capacity and Weight

Role Play in Le Patisserie and the Hairdressers

We looked for red squirrels, nibbled pine cones, feathers and rabbits on the woodland trail. The sun came out for our beach picnic and we enjoyed splashing in the sea, someone was even brave enough to wear a swimming costume!

A day to remember...

Formby Red Squirrel Reserve and Beach, 20th May 2014.

It was an exciting challenge to find shapes in the outdoor environment...

We  had fun searching for shapes in the Nursery and Reception outdoor areas and the Infant playground. Some children found tiny circles on daisies and others found large circles on the Infant ball shoot!

We're Going on a Shape Hunt!

Coverdale Puppets came to Emmaus for an Easter puppet show.

In the Nursery we had a great time at the Easter Party. We danced and played games at our disco, had our faces painted and we went on an Easter Egg Hunt  too. Easter Bunny even came to visit us!

Nursery Christmas Play 2013

We had such fun performing our Christmas Play, 'Happy Birthday Jesus' to our families.  Click on the pictures below to see a slideshow of us all dressed up ready to perform!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

The Tiger Who Came To Tea

We loved listening to the story 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' by Judith Kerr, so we painted a giant tiger for our role play area and played tea parties. We wrote invitations, stories and drew pictures to go on the wall and wrote and drew in our big floor book.

We painted and used collage to decorate reclaimed materials to make a tiger model for our book area, where we can dress up as tigers too!

Exploring the Outdoor Environment

We have had great fun playing outdoors, rolling tyres,  in the beach house, building fires and barbeques, climbing, kicking and throwing balls and imaginary play in the pirate ship.

Mad Hair Day!

We had fun on Mad Hair Day and raised money for the Diabetes charity too.
