Baptism with Rev Alastair
To help us explore our RE topic of 'Welcome', Rev Alastair spent time with us on Monday morning to 'baptise' our baby doll. We learnt that the Baptism ceremony welcomes us into God's family and is the beginning of our 'jouney of faith' with Jesus. To mark this special occasion, we dressed up in our best clothes and Anoushka, Evan, Eugene, Logan, Darcy and Amber took on the roles of parents and Godparents for the baby.
Rev Alastair explained the special symbols of Baptism: the white garments, candle, cross, water, oil and shell as he used them to bless, baptise and pray for our baby doll. Each of the parents and Godparents were invited to 'bless' the baby and made a special promise to help the baby live like Jesus as she grows. We all prayed with Alastair and remembered that through our own Baptism, God loves us and knows us all by name.
