Baptism in Reception
To help us explore our RE topic of 'Welcome', Mr Housbey from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, visited to 'baptise' our baby doll. We learnt that the Baptism ceremony welcomes us into God's family and is the beginning of our 'jouney of faith' with Jesus. To mark this special occasion, we dressed up in our best clothes and Isabella, Mia, Tom, Ace, Harry, Lauryn and Eloise took on the roles of priest, parents and godparents for the baby.
Mr Housbey explained the special symbols of Baptism: the white garment, candle, cross, water, oil and shawl as he used them to bless, baptise and pray for our baby doll. Each of the parents and godparents were invited to 'bless' the baby and made a special promise to help the baby live like Jesus as she grows. We all prayed together and remembered that through our own Baptism, God loves us and knows us all by name.
