Children reading Green Books We have been reading 1.6 and 1.7 words with increasing fluency. We are working towards the children reading them without having to use Fred Talk or Fred in your Head. We call this speedy reading. To move on to higher storybooks the children have to be able to read a group of words speedily, without Fred Talk or Fred in your head. We teach them to do this by practising reading the words over and over again.
They have been focusing on handwriting and writing sentences independently in Mrs Ball’s Group and Reading their Green books and the Story Words, Speedy Words and the Red Words.
