World Book Day
Key Stage 1 and 2 enjoyed activities based on the book "Flotsam" by David Wiesner where lots of exciting things float on the ocean and are washed up on the shore. In Nursery we read the story "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. We talked about the cover of the book and also what the word 'author' means. We thought about Max' adventure on his private boat which floated on the ocean to the place where the Wild Things are. We discussed whether the story was a dream, Max' imagination or it was really magic! We then experimented with items from around Nursery to discover whether they float or sink. We made predictions before testing them out. We had fun trying out lots of items in the water play too.
Look at the photos of children enjoying our book area, listening to Jax' favourite story ("Room on the Broom") and experimenting with floating and sinking.
