A home reading book will be sent home weekly (or fortnightly if the book is particularly long). Your child is expected to complete their 'reading log' on a weekly basis.
We encourage children to read aloud as well as being read to. See words in print will help your child to see how vocabulary, punctuation and grammar are used across genres. Reading to your child is very important for their education, even if they can read independently. Listening to a text being read aloud can help your child's reading skills develop (intonation and expression) and build their understanding of difficult vocabulary.
We believe that reading should be fun and books should excite children. We encourage 'reading for pleasure' in school and want your child(s) to have a love of reading.
