Dear Families

Following an assessment we now have 4 Read Write Inc Phonics groups for Reception. 

The groups are called: Mrs Wright, Mrs Gaied, Miss Kelly/Mrs Millington and Mrs Ball.  Your child will know who is their phonics teacher.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and speak with us.   

Mrs Wright’s Group:

They have been consolidating the sounds they know and reading and writing with them.  They can practice with the following links:

The children in this group are practising to blend the sounds to make a word using Fred Talk.  We make a word with the letter cards, we use “Fred Talk” to sound it out and then we “Read the Word”.

They have been focusing on reading words fluently, practising them until they are read by sight, without needing to Fred Talk them.

Children reading Green Books

They have been focusing on handwriting and writing sentences independently in Mrs Ball’s Group and Reading their Green books and the Story Words, Speedy Words and the Red Words.

 

Please be aware that our Word Time sessions use sounds the children should know speedily.  Not the new sounds they learn each day.  If you would like a new sound card pack please let us know.
