Tous Ensemble, En Chemin Avec Jesus

Week Beginning: 6th July "True Colours"

This week we have put together some activities based on one of our favourite songs this year! True Colours!

All of the learning here has a theme of under the sea, rainbows and colours. Perhaps you could try some of these activities and show us your work on Purple Mash!

Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick - True Colors (Lyrics)

Our favourite Year 2 assembly song to sing together!

The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers

Maths: Data Handling

This week, you need to try and complete a survey with the people around you to find out what the most popular colour of the rainbow is.

You should ask all of your friends and family what their favourite colour is and mark their answers on a tally, like the picture here.

Once you have asked lots of people for their responses, you are going to start to present your results in a bar chart. Show us how many people chose each colour and which one is the most popular!

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

Listen to the story to complete the activities below:

Use the resources above to plan a book review before writing it. Consider who the author and illustrator are, what happens in the story, what the moral of the story is, and who you would recommend the book to.

Writing: Acrostic Descriptive Poem

Writing descriptions using acrostic poems:

Use the example above to write your own descriptive acrostic poem for trolls characters and underwater creatures. Adjectives are describing words, they tell us what something is like. You need to use one on each line!

You could write acrostic poems for...:

  • shark
  • sting ray
  • whale
  • dolphin
  • jellyfish

Science: Sea Creature Fact Files

Science: Sea Creature Fact File

Complete some research online about sea creatures. Choose a sea creature that you are interested in and make a fact-file of all of the information you find out. Some things to think about:

  • Animal's full name
  • Picture
  • Food they eat
  • Which ocean they are found in?
  • Are they under threat or in danger?

Art & Design: Decorate your own True Colours Card

Art & Design: Underwater Shoe Box Scene

Use an old shoebox/delivery box to create your own underwater scene. Research the animals/plants found in a particular ocean and create an underwater scene using the results you find! You can be as creative as you like with this activity. Take some photographs of what you make and show us on Purple Mash!

Design & Technology: Rainbow Fruit Skewers
