Pumpkin Fun
We have been exploring the concepts of big and little, heavy and light, large and small using Autumn leaves and fruit. The children had great fun comparing the relative weights of the large and small pumpkins. They enjoyed testing out the strength of the pumpkin skin by cutting it using safety knives. The children rolled the pumpkins to one another and also compared their sizes with other Autumn fruit like conkers and fir cones. Jacob estimated that the large pumpkin had 55 seeds and Florence estimated 100!
The children loved scraping out the seeds from the pumpkins and used safety knives to chop up the pumpkin to make roast pumpkin soup. Ollie asked which ingredients are used to make pumpkin soup. Many children enjoyed the soup and helped themselves to seconds! Jake, Mary-Kate and Jacob especially enjoyed the soup.
