Book Week in Reception
In Reception, we have celebrated reading and fostered a love for books during our school Book Week. This year's theme is 'books that take us on a journey'. Our adopted author in Reception is Julia Donaldson and we have embraced her magical stories, 'The Gruffalo', 'The Gruffalo's Child' and 'Room on the Broom'.
During the week, we also joined in with a range of exciting events: our families joined us in school to share books in our classes; we listened to our Y3 reading buddies as they read to us; we loved watching a live performance by the Altru Theatre Company and had great fun listening to Liverpool librarians joining in with the story, song and rhyme sessions. We loved visiting the Book Bus and our trip to the 'Story Barn' was a huge success, as we embarked on some amazing reading adventures in the hot air balloon and robot rocket!
We ended Book Week with a special Book Trust present to take home, inspiring us to carry on reading and enjoying books as much as we can!
