At this time of year we would be focusing on applying our phonics skills to make sure we recognise the sounds in words and can read sentences containing these words.  

We have now worked through every sound in Phase 3.  Please play a variety of games and activities to help your child to apply these skills and remember them.

Tricky Words

Throughout the year we have been practising reading and writing the Tricky Words.

We would have been practising reading the Phase 3 Tricky Words and writing the Phase 2 Tricky Words.

The next step would be to practice writing the Phase 3 sounds.

You could also play online phonics games to help your child practice their reading skills.

Choose the phase that your child needs to practice.  This is a spelling game and will say a word for you to make with the sounds , when you make it then it tells you another word which is slightly different to make.  The word will keep changing until it brings you back to the first word again and you have moved in a full circle.
