Hello 5D! 

My name is Mrs Dougherty and I am going to be your new class teacher (in September). Mrs Bowness is my teaching assistant.  She is kind and caring and is there to help if you need it. This is going to be a great year and I am very much looking forward to it - I hope you are too! We are here for you and it will be a great new start.

We have fantastic topics to study.  In history, we learn about the Ancient Egyptians, WWI and the Vikings.  In geography we look at where our food comes from, we study the Amazon Rainforest and look at our local area too.  We often invite special visitors in to Emmaus to help us deliver the curriculum in a fun and exciting way.  We also have creative art and D&T topics, which I know you will enjoy. Our Year group adopted author is the amazing Michael Morpurgo. He has written over 100 books for children including 'War Horse', 'Kensuke's Kingdom' and 'Private Peaceful'.  He has won many awards for his fantastic work and some of his books have been made into films. Have you read any of his books?
