Understanding the World: Autumn Days
The beginning of Autumn has inspired so many exciting learning experiences in Reception.
We shared lots of beautiful Autumn themed stories, songs and poems...one of our favourites was 'Leaf Man' by Lois Ehlert. We collected lots of new seasonal vocabulary then we were inspired to get creative with some natural transient art. We put on our wellies and went outside into our beautiful environment to explore seasonal change, searching for autumn treasures and engaging in exciting sensory learning experiences. We have developed an emerging understanding of cyclical patterns in the our world as well as expressing our creativity with nature! Developing problem solving skills, we created our own 'conker runs', developing scientific and mathematical concepts: forces, gradients, cause and effect, measures. Best of all was our Autumn Carnival, we loved performing our own improvised seasonal songs as we paraded with our natural masks, wands and crowns!
