Tous Ensemble, En Chemin Avec Jesus
Our theme for this half term is
Celebrate Good Times!
We were very excited to bring our teddies to school to meet the doctors from the 'Teddy Bear Hospital'. We learnt lots about a doctor's job and all the special equipment they use. The medical team taught us how to stay fit and healthy, showed us how to wash our hands properly, encouraged us to look after our teeth and how to name and locate important parts of our body.
The best part of the day was talking to the doctors and helping them to examine and treat our teddies, using real doctor's equipment and dressings. After spending time with the doctors, we all felt much happier about what would happen if we ever had to visit a hospital and be treated ourselves...
We have been celebrating Diwali, the Hindu ‘festival of lights’. We learnt about the traditions of this special festival and discovered that Diwali is a New Year celebration when Indian families pray for good luck and prosperity by lighting rows of lamps called ‘divas’. We enjoyed making and decorating our own diva lamps, creating traditional rangoli patterns with chalks on the floor outside and dressing up in real saris to dance to ‘Bollywood’ music wearing Indian jewellery, bells and bindis!
FIRE, FIRE!
We were excited to meet real firefighters from Merseyside Fire Service this week and explore a real fire engine! We stood together with the fire crew to observe the 2 minutes silence for Remembrance Day, then we had the chance to try on a real fire service kit, sit inside the fire engine, handle the powertools and even experience a proper ‘fireman’s lift’. The highlight of the morning came when we all sprayed the powerful fire hose!
BRIGHTEN UP THIS HARVEST!
CAFOD dance Fundraiser
We came into school dressed in our brightest clothes last Friday to join in with our CAFOD fundraising event to 'Brighten up the Harvest!' Monique led a very lively dancing session and taught us a funky street dance to one of our favourite songs. It was great fun joining in with such a colourful and happy event. We hope the money we raised will help bring some brightness into the lives of children in our world who may feel sad, lonely or scared.
