We have been looking after 5 little caterpillars, kindly brought into school by Katie in RG! After watching the caterpillars eat and spin their silk, they grew and grew before hanging upside down and hardening into chrysalides. We were very careful to keep them still and after a week, transferred them into the butterfly net with some sugary water and orange segments ready for the butterflies to emerge! We were so excited to watch 5 beautiful ‘painted lady’ butterflies appear and start flapping their wings! Most exciting of all was releasing the butterflies back into the open air, we had a chance to hold them before watching them fly away!
