Our Trip to 'The Story Barn'
To introduce our Book Week celebrations, we embarked upon our very first school trip, to ‘The Story Barn’ in Calderstones Park. Both classes had an amazing time exploring a wealth of books and discovering a host of quirky, interesting antiquities, all of which really stimulated lots of talk, questions and some amazing vocabulary.
The Story Barn staff led delightful story, song and art sessions all based around an ‘Owl’ theme. We joined in with huge enthusiasm, imagination and eagerness to explore as many stories, books and rhymes as we could.

Highlights of the day included imaginary adventures in the massive hot air balloon; lots of turns sliding down the bumpy slide; enjoying a picnic lunch with the ‘Gruffalo’ and unexpectedly being interviewed by BBC Radio 4 about our love of reading real books!
The double decker bus ride proved a big hit too and we sang ‘The Wheels on the Bus’ all the way back to school.
