JIGSAW: Goals and Dreams

LO: To consider how we can achieve our goals  step-by-step

Last week, we created a 'Shield of Goals and Aspirations' outlining four goals that we each set ourselves: two were school-based or learning goals and two were goals for outside of school.  Today, we will think about the steps that we need to take in order to achieve these goals. 

Think back to the four goals you set yourself last in last week’s lesson. What skills might you use to help you achieve your goals? What steps will you need to take to reach your goals? How can you break your goals down into smaller, more manageable steps?

Look at the ladder template.

Ask yourself: How will I know I reached my goal? Break it down into smaller chunks.

In the rungs of the ladder, write the steps needed to reach your goal.

For example: If your goal is to improve your handwriting, your steps may be:

Step 1: Buy a pen you like writing with.

Step 2: Purchase a handwriting book. 

Step 3: Practise handwriting letters and letter joins using your new pen.

Step 4: Practise joining your letters up to form full words correctly.

Step 4: Offer to be the writer in a group activity.

Step 5: Gain a certificate for improved handwriting.
