Wow! Only one day left on the slopes and it's all rushing by too quickly. The children have climbed higher than before and skied better than ever. We were lucky enough to be joined by a professional photographer who took 'action shots' of each child as they slalomed down the piste. We can't wait to see the images tomorrow.
One of the rules while out on the slopes is that we don't throw snow. The only exception is for any birthday children. Today is Erin's birthday and she chose to throw her snowball at Mr McSki (the staff took great delight in helping her to make the snowball as big as possible!)
We're all down safely for the day and the children are hastily finishing writing their diaries as these are their tickets to tonight's disco!
We're all down safely from the slopes after another wonderful day of skiing. Your amazing children have all skied on the beginner green and blue pistes and this afternoon every one of them also skied down a RED piste. This is incredible progress for only four days on the slopes. Many of the children are becoming concerned as they've realised they have only two days left of skiing and that just doesn't feel like enough now that it's coming so naturally to them.
There was a quick turnaround after skiing as we headed down to street to spend some of our money on souvenirs. All the children had impeccable manners and they tried out their French language skills asking "C'est combien?" and all remembered to say "Merci!" Fantastique!
Tonight's entertainment is bingo and there are some great prizes up for grabs.
Tuesday's Skiing
If you've checked today's weather then you'll know we have experienced our first blizzard in Montgenevre. We woke up to snow falling gently and this continued throughout the day along with fog. The children were so sensible, skiing carefully due to the poorer visibility, and listened carefully to their instructors. Many said they preferred the cooler weather too.
We're down safety for the day and the children were delighted to find a pancake station set up ready for them to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. All this skiing is giving them great appetites!
*edited to add that the children were not allowed the boozy pancakes!
Monday's Skiing
The children have shown unbelievable progress today. All are now off the nursery slopes and have been high in the mountain, via the gondola, to ski down the green runs. A few have felt nervous but ALL have reached the bottom safely and been recounting their achievements to the different teachers. They're all buzzing and on a real high to have accomplished this on just day 2! Onwards and upwards from here!
Tonight is movie night and I think the children will enjoy sitting and resting their weary legs after such an energetic day. I know the staff will!
Ski Sunday
We're all down safely from the slopes and we've had a great first day. The weather has been beautiful and the conditions have been perfect. Every child had learnt to put on their skis themselves and to snow plough down the slopes safely. They have travelled up on the 'magic carpet' lift and have negotiated the button drag lifts successfully too. They have all achieved a lot and you should be very proud of your children. Tonight's quiz night....let's hope they all do as well with their general knowledge!
We're hoping to upload photos and videos shortly but are having a little trouble with the WiFi...please bear with us.
