Twenty-seven Year 5 children took part in an exciting five-day residential trip to France. We stayed at the stunning Château du Broutel, nestled in the charming town of Rue. During the trip, the children explored a local market, toured a chocolate factory, and even visited a snail farm. They also spent time at a WW1 museum, the Lochnagar Crater, and other significant historical landmarks such as the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial and Thiepval Memorial. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed tasting traditional French food and putting their language skills to use with local residents. Scroll down to see some highlights from the trip!

Confirmation Service at St Cuthbert's Church on Sunday 29th June 2025

We would like to congratulate the candidates from Years 4, 5 and 6 who celebrated their Confirmation together. This was a special holy event for all children, families, staff and clergy in attendance. Thank you to everyone who worked together to make this day so wonderful. Well done children.

Our Year 5 children took part in a 4 day residential to northern France from Monday 1st July to Friday 5th July 2024. The children stayed in the magnificent Château du Broutel near the town of Rue in several acres of beautiful grounds.  In order to develop their cultural knowledge of France the children visited a snail farm. They also visited a chocolate factory and see how chocolate is produced. One of the highlights of the visit was a visit to the town of Albert in the Somme. This area was in the heart of the fighting in the Great War. During the day the children visited the famous Battle of the Somme Museum and then visited the memorial site at Thiepval before visiting the trenches at the Newfoundland Regiment Memorial.
