We went on a Leaf Hunt!
We went outside, exploring the school grounds, hunting for leaves of all different shapes, textures and colours. We guessed which tree the leaves belonged to and searched for fruits and berries too.
Back in class, we sorted our leaves by colour and discvered that there are many shades and tones of colours by matching them to colour shade charts.
We used some of the leaves to make our own unique 'Leaf Men' and 'Stick Men'. We even tried to make our own 'journey sticks' attaching the natural objects together with string, sellotape and glue!
In Maths, we counted to 10 and beyond with leaves and conkers, matching quantities to the correct numerals and numicon plates.
We had lots of fun strengthening our fine motor skills by joining in with a conker challenge, picking up conkers with tongs and tweezers, a true test of perseverance and patience!
We also strengthened our hands and fingers by using our ‘pincers’ to push pins into different leaf outlines, practising the phonic sound ‘p’ along the way. Our playdough was pumpkin coloured and cinnamon flavoured too!
