Time machines in fiction come in all shapes and sizes. In Tom’s Midnight Garden, the object that allowed Tom to travel back to Victorian times was the old, grandfather clock which chimed thirteen at the stroke of midnight!
Task:
Read the PowerPoint based on 'The Time Machine' by H.G Wells.
Look closely at the time machine - look at every, single part of it!
How would you describe the time machine?
Look at the range of pictures of time machines in the pdf document.
Choose one for inspiration or create your own.
Draw it, colour it and then most importantly, describe it!
For example:
- What object is it?
- What size is it?
- What material is it made out of?
- What does it do?
- Is it obviously a time machine or is it an everyday object?
Remember to write with quality and use a range of sentence structures, lengths and styles.
You could use:
- Subordinate clauses
- Relative clauses
- Interesting openers
- Conjunctions
- Adventurous vocabulary
- Adjectives
- Adverbs
- Range of punctuation – brackets. Dashes, colons, semi-colons, etc.
