This year, we are celebrating World Book Day using a whole school text - Flotsam by David Wiesner. Each year group will complete work based on this wordless picture book. Please use the resources below for your Flotsam lesson on Thursday.
At the bottom of this page, you will find plenty of other resources for your own use, based on World Book Day. These are fun, creative activities and links to stories for you to listen to. Enjoy!
What happens in the story?
Collecting shells on the beach, a boy is caught by a wave. When the wave calms down, he finds an old-fashioned camera containing what he thinks are impossible scenes of underwater life.
There’s also a record of the last child to find the camera. She took a picture of herself holding the photo of the previous child. The boy looks closely, only to discover a trail of photos inside photos, heading back in time. He takes his own photo and throws the camera back into the sea. It’s washed ashore on the other side of the world, and the cycle begins again.
