Hedgehog Homes

We discovered that a hedgehog has been hibernating in our outdoor sandpit!

We were so intrigued that we read the story ‘Don’t Hog the Hedge’ to find out more about hibernating animals and their habitats.  We then set about planning, designing and making our own ideas for a home for hibernating animals such as hedgehogs, mice, toads, bees and bats.  We used recycled containers; cutting, sticking and assembling them to make homes and nests.  Outside, we filled them with leaves, twigs, berries and grass, then we positioned them in areas which were dark, sheltered and quiet to ensure all the hibernating creatures stay safe through the winter...
