St. George's Day Activities
We watched a video on Expresso about St. George and how he travelled to England. St. George was a Christian and told people in England about Jesus' love for us all. Joe wanted to look again at the children's Bible to see Jesus on the cross and we talked about God bringing Jesus back to life at Easter time. James said that Jesus didn't want to stay in the cave (tomb).
There is a story that St. George killed a dragon and saved a beautiful princess. The children dressed up as St. George, princesses and used a dragon puppet in role play. The princesses held red English roses too. We played 'There Was A princess long Ago' ring game. Some children made the England flag with St. George's red cross on it too.
The children decorated biscuits with red icing and topped them with English strawberries to take home. Snack was outside on picnic blankets; English strawberries with cream!
