Reception

Welcome to the Reception remote learning page...

We want your child to access to rich, experiential, play-based learning challenges every day.  In line with the curriculum being taught at school, we have provided daily online teaching and learning opportunities, with related resources. On the weekly planning PDFs (below) click on the links each day to be directed to supporting videos and websites.  Please remember to TALK, READ & PLAY with your child: this really is the best way to support their learning.

Each day please email any examples of your child's home learning to: reception@emmaus.liverpool.sch.uk

This may be a photograph or video of their achievements that day.  PLEASE send this on ONE email. It would be especially helpful if you could use your child's name as the subject of the email. We hope to reply personally to each child daily, during our work hours.  We can provide support and feedback too so if you need further guidance or have any worries at all, please also use the above address.

We would like the opportunity to catch up with the Reception children each morning and afternoon via Zoom. Please find the recurring invitations for each meeting in the email you have been sent.   These will only be for 15 minutes at a time.  Please bear with us as we all adapt to this new way of learning (and teaching!), there may well be some technical or teething issues in the first few days.

We hope to see you all again very soon, stay safe and keep in touch.  You will all be in our prayers in the days and weeks to come.

Reading Book Band Information

We want to make sure we are giving your child the right level books. The book bands are split by the sounds they know. We can allocate any level to you that is suitable to your child.   Please do not worry what book band your child is on.  When they are reading a book it is important that they already know the sounds in the book.  You can teach them to recognise sounds by practising the attached powerpoints and completing the phonics lesson and activities.

We do not read books containing sounds they do not know.  To read a book, they use so many skills and recognising letters is not something we teach as we read.  If your child is reading the books they have with ease we can allocate the next level if they also know the sounds in those books. We have attached powerpoints so you can check on a device which sounds they know.  You can always practise these each day to help your child to recognise the sounds.  Just let us know if your child needs a different book band.
